The founding of the society

Based on noble values, principles, and keenness to assist needy people during times of crisis, which Kuwaitis enjoyed throughout history, 18 prominent and experienced Kuwaitis spearheaded the idea of founding of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society –KRCS- . The 1st meeting was held in December 1965 in which they endorsed the basic organizational structure for its foundation.

The Kuwaiti government approved the foundation of KRCS and was officially proclaimed as a non governmental organization- NGO- on January 10, 1966. The government’s approval also facilitated the procedures for the KRCS to join the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Cross Societies.
