The head of the regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for the Gulf Cooperation Council, Omar Awda, on Tuesday praised the measures of the Kuwaiti government to combat Coronavirus.
After his meeting with the Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer and the accompanying delegation, Odeh declared that Kuwait had made continuous and remarkable efforts at all levels to protect citizens and residents and maintain public health in the country.
He added that Kuwait has realized since the beginning of the virus outbreak the importance of its humanitarian responsibility and announced solidarity with the global efforts to contain the repercussions of the pandemic.
He praised the role of KRCS and its relentless endeavor to provide support to the Government's plans to confront Coronavirus, noting that KRCS briefed him and the accompanying delegation on the KRCS's efforts to combat the Coronavirus.
He expressed his pleasure with the the third high-level meeting was discussed in with the participation of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society and the International Committee of the Red Cross, which discussed several topics, including addressing Coronavirus outbreak, the humanitarian conditions of the Syrian refugees, and the humanitarian situation in both Yemen and Iraq.
The the meeting also discussed the current and latest developments of Coronavirus and the necessary and preventive measures to confront it.
He confirmed that the International Committee of the Red Cross enjoys strong relations with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, which reaffirmed its commitment to an active engagement with the international community in combating the largest global health crisis in recent history.
Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, for his part, confirmed in a statement to (KUNA) that the KRCS will continue its initiatives in confronting the Coronavirus outbreak as part of its role to promote its humanitarian message on the local scene and support efforts to combat the virus in cooperation with the concerned local authorities.
Al-Sayer stressed the importance of harnessing all possible capabilities of KRCS to support national efforts to address the pandemic and its negative repercussions on various aspects of life. He cited KRCS's efforts with national and international bodies to ensure the safety and stability of society.
He explained that the meeting reviewed bilateral cooperative relations with the International Committee of the Red Cross and coordination to rein the Coronavirus outbreak, in addition to a number of common interest issues.
Dr. Al-Sayer reviewed the humanitarian and relief work provided by the KRCS in Kuwait and abroad, based on the humanitarian role in fighting Corona virus.
