Society Activities at the International Level

The State of Kuwait, through its government and civil institutions, embodies a well-established approach in supporting countries and peoples in need by providing developmental and humanitarian assistance that contributes to improving livelihoods and enhancing those countries' capabilities to achieve sustainable development.

Kuwait, under its wise leadership, has emerged as one of the most prominent international supporters of communities affected by crises and disasters, through implementing a broad package of relief and development projects that meet urgent needs and restore hope to those affected.

The Kuwait Red Crescent Society has emerged as an honorable humanitarian face of Kuwait, as its work locally and abroad has received wide acclaim from international figures, United Nations and regional organizations, alongside official recognition from countries benefiting from its assistance. These accolades have reflected the international community's confidence in the Society's role and position among active humanitarian institutions.

When reviewing the map of the Society's activities over the past decades, it becomes evident that its assistance has reached dozens of countries across various continents, particularly those devastated by natural disasters or humanitarian crises resulting from wars.

The Society has been committed to extending a helping hand to everyone in need, in keeping with its humanitarian mission and the principles upon which it was founded, namely helping humanity wherever it may be and alleviating its suffering without discrimination.

Operations Centre

The Operations Center of the Disaster and Emergency Department at the Kuwait Red Crescent Society was launched on July 19, 2012, to be one of the fundamental pillars in the humanitarian response system and to enhance its capacity to deal with emergencies and disasters with greater efficiency.

The establishment of the Operations Center came to affirm the Society's readiness during the preparedness and readiness phase, as obtaining accurate information and data is the most important element before moving to the actual disaster response phase.

The Center works to provide an integrated database presented to the decision-maker and the Society's Board of Directors, including the nature of the disaster, whether natural, environmental, or resulting from armed conflict, alongside the initial assessment of urgent needs for the affected community or country.

Thanks to this vital role, the Operations Center constitutes a fundamental launching point for ensuring rapid response and organizing relief efforts effectively in a manner that reflects the Society's capabilities and humanitarian role.

Balsem Project

This project is a joint humanitarian initiative between the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and Kuwait Airways, based on collecting leftover currencies donated by travelers during their flights aboard Kuwait Airways aircraft.

These contributions are allocated to support charitable and humanitarian projects implemented by the Society, making this initiative a distinctive model of community partnership that promotes the spirit of giving and directs resources for the benefit of those in need.

Local Aids

The Local Assistance Department is one of the fundamental departments in the Society that provides social care. The work team receives registration requests from vulnerable families and individuals, after which each case is carefully studied according to clear mechanisms and standards that ensure an objective and well-considered assessment of their living needs.

The department works to provide various types of support to vulnerable groups without any discrimination. The work team is also committed to following up on the conditions of families registered with the department and maintaining continuous communication with them to identify their basic needs and attempt to provide necessary supplies that contribute to improving their living conditions.

This assistance is distributed through various campaigns and projects targeting diverse groups, most notably widows, divorcees, people with special needs, students, patients, and the elderly, within the framework of the Society's efforts aimed at promoting social solidarity and meeting the needs of vulnerable families within Kuwait.
