Red Crescent Delegation Concludes Inspection Visit to Rohingya Refugee Camps in Bangladesh

The delegation of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society concluded its inspection visit to Rohingya refugee camps in the Cox's Bazar area of Bangladesh, as part of the Society's humanitarian efforts to support refugee issues around the world.

The Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society, Dr. Nasser Al-Tannak, said in a phone call with KUNA that this visit embodied Kuwait's well-established humanitarian approach and its commitment to helping those in need in various parts of the world, in line with the directives of the wise political leadership.

Al-Tannak added that the visit program included a field tour inside the camps, where the delegation inspected the "Building Adaptation and Resilience Capacity" project, which is implemented with funding from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.

He explained that the "Building Adaptation and Resilience Capacity" project aims to build 1,520 new shelters equipped with basic necessities to provide safer and more stable living conditions for refugee families.

He noted that the delegation's visit also included meetings with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, attended by Kuwait's Ambassador to Bangladesh Ali Hamada, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation to support refugees and alleviate their suffering.

He mentioned that the delegation also held meetings with a number of Bangladeshi officials to discuss developments in the humanitarian situation, confirming that the

needs on the ground are still great and require urgent concerted international efforts.

He indicated that the projects implemented by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in Bangladesh from 2017 to 2025 included the fields of food, shelter, health, water, education, and development projects in cooperation with local and international organizations.

He expressed his gratitude to the partner and supporting entities, foremost among them the Kuwait Embassy in Bangladesh, the Kuwait Fund for Development, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the Bangladesh Red Crescent
