The Secretary-General of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Fahad Al-Mandeel, affirmed the Society's commitment to strengthening humanitarian partnerships and expanding the scope of sustainable projects in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, which contributes to developing relief work and ensuring aid reaches its beneficiaries around the world. Al-Mandeel said, following his meeting with the Deputy Head of the Regional Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Willem de Jong, in the presence of the Director of the Operations Affairs Department at the Society, Zainab Qambar, that the meeting addressed ways to unify humanitarian efforts and coordinate joint programs to serve the strategic objectives of both parties, and enhance the efficiency of response to humanitarian crises, especially the forgotten ones. He added that the "Red Crescent" focuses in its upcoming strategy on sustainable health and development projects in addition to rapid response in emergency situations, noting that the Society's priority at the present time is to relieve the Gaza Strip and alleviate the suffering of civilians through formulating joint projects with the International Committee that achieve long-term humanitarian impact. For his part, de Jong expressed his appreciation for the role of the "Kuwait Red Crescent" and its distinguished
humanitarian achievements outside Kuwait, affirming that the mutual trust between the two parties is a solid foundation for building promising humanitarian partnerships. He stated that the meeting was fruitful, where future cooperation areas and forms of humanitarian partnership in different parts of the world were discussed, noting that these efforts come in preparation for the high-level strategic dialogue scheduled to be held soon in partnership with a number of local entities to enhance the efficiency of humanitarian response. He pointed to existing projects between the two parties, most notably the project to support Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, affirming that this project represents a successful model of fruitful partnership that both parties aspire to strengthen and expand in the coming period to serve common humanitarian goals and alleviate the suffering of those in need around the world.
