Red Crescent: Gulf Workshop on Harmonizing Humanitarian Legislation Reflects Depth of Partnership The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Crescent Society, Khaled Al-Mughames, confirmed that the Gulf workshop entitled "Experiences of Red Crescent Societies and Bodies in Harmonizing Local Laws with Humanitarian Legislation" embodies the depth of Gulf partnership in the fields of humanitarian work and the commitment of GCC countries to developing the humanitarian work system with solid legal frameworks that keep pace with rapid changes. Al-Mughames said during the launch of the workshop yesterday, organized by the Red Crescent, that the State of Kuwait is committed to updating its legal system in line with its humanitarian and international obligations and in a manner that enhances its pioneering position, stressing that unifying Gulf visions in this field contributes to raising the efficiency of humanitarian response and consolidating joint work. He valued the hosting of the workshop by the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies, and the cooperation of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and all participants, hoping that the workshop will produce practical recommendations that serve the course of Gulf humanitarian work. For his part, the representative of the Director of the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies at the workshop, Deputy Director of the Institute for Communications, Relations and Research, Counselor Dr. Ahmed Al-Muqallad, told KUNA that "holding this workshop reflects the increasing importance of the topic of harmonizing national legislation with humanitarian rules and principles, and confirms the growing awareness of the role of national societies in supporting the legal and humanitarian system and enhancing the effectiveness of humanitarian work according to solid legal foundations." He explained that the workshop's topic acquires special importance in light of increasing humanitarian challenges and the overlapping of national and international legal frameworks, which necessitates the exchange of expertise between national societies and the review of best practices in harmonizing local laws with humanitarian legislation, while highlighting the State of Kuwait's pioneering experience in this field. For her part, the representative of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, Director of Organizational Studies, Mai Al-Asim, confirmed that these meetings contribute to enhancing the exchange of expertise between Red Crescent societies and bodies in the GCC countries and support unifying visions towards developing humanitarian work according to clear and integrated legal frameworks. For his part, the representative of the Bahraini Red Crescent Society, Assistant Secretary-General for Committee Affairs, Adel Al-Jar, told KUNA that the workshop reflects the importance of Gulf consultation and unifying visions regarding the harmonization of national legislation with humanitarian laws, in a manner that contributes to enhancing the humanitarian work system in the Cooperation countries. Al-Jar explained that the exchange of expertise between Gulf Red Crescent societies and bodies has contributed to developing performance and accumulating practical experiences.
