Red Cross: Strengthening Cooperation with the Kuwait Red Crescent to Develop Training Programs and Build Volunteer Capacities

The Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mamadou Sow, affirmed the importance of enhancing coordination and cooperation between the Committee and the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in developing training programs and building volunteer capacities, thereby contributing to the support of humanitarian efforts and an effective response to the demands of the current phase.

Sow expressed these views during his meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Khaled Al-Mughamis, on Sunday. He praised the prominent humanitarian role that the Society plays at both the regional and international levels, commending its efforts in supporting those affected by crises and disasters and advancing humanitarian initiatives.

He added that such meetings contribute to unifying humanitarian efforts and exchanging expertise between the two parties, enhancing the capacity to address growing humanitarian challenges in the region and developing humanitarian response mechanisms during crises and emergencies.

For his part, Al-Mughamis affirmed the Kuwait Red Crescent's commitment to strengthening cooperation and coordination with international humanitarian organizations, foremost among them the ICRC, in a manner that supports humanitarian work and develops its mechanisms amid the current situation in the region.

He explained that the meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation between the two parties, particularly with regard to supporting the role of volunteers, developing their capacities, and raising their readiness for humanitarian response during crises and emergencies.

He noted that the Society attaches great importance to volunteer work as one of the fundamental pillars of humanitarian action, stressing its commitment to qualifying volunteers in accordance with best international practices and standards, to ensure rapid response and effective humanitarian intervention when needed.
