The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Khaled Al-Mughamis, called for activating humanitarian diplomacy tools amid the rapidly escalating tensions in the region and their resulting humanitarian repercussions. He stressed the importance of issuing an international solidarity statement with the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

Al-Mughamis made these remarks during his participation in a video conference held on Wednesday with the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Kate Forbes, during which the humanitarian situation resulting from the escalation of hostilities and its impact on civilians and infrastructure in the GCC countries was discussed.

He added that the International Federation affirmed its solidarity with the national societies under these circumstances and its commitment to supporting their field efforts

to ensure the continuity of humanitarian work with efficiency. He also highlighted a review of the efforts of Kuwait Red Crescent teams — including volunteers, ambulance crews, and rescue personnel — in enhancing rapid response to emergency situations.

He clarified that the current phase requires intensifying dialogues with diplomatic and humanitarian networks and activating humanitarian diplomacy in a practical and effective manner. He affirmed that the integration of efforts and adherence to humanitarian principles and international humanitarian law contribute to unifying the response, alleviating suffering, and safeguarding human dignity.
