The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kuwait, Tuba Nur Sönmez, affirmed that Kuwait has embodied a distinguished model of humanitarian work through its continuous efforts and generous initiatives in support of affected peoples around the world.

Sönmez made these remarks following her meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Khaled Al-Mughamis. She stated that Kuwait, represented by the Red Crescent Society, plays a prominent humanitarian role at both the regional and international levels, praising the Society's initiatives and its continuous engagement with various humanitarian causes.

She added that the meeting represented an important opportunity to explore prospects for future cooperation and to strengthen joint coordination between the two sides. She noted the Society's keenness to enhance international partnerships with various humanitarian bodies, in a manner that contributes to addressing the growing challenges on the international scene.

Al-Mughamis stated that humanitarian work represents one of the most important bridges that strengthens international cooperation and opens broader horizons for joint coordination. He pointed out that cooperation with the Turkish side extends over years of joint work across a number of relief and humanitarian initiatives.

He explained that the Society has implemented, over recent years, a number of humanitarian projects within Turkey, including support for Syrian refugees and the provision of assistance to them, alongside the implementation of other development programs — reflecting the depth of the humanitarian relationship between the two countries.

He noted that the meeting reviewed the most prominent Kuwaiti humanitarian efforts to provide relief and assistance to those affected in various parts of the world, and explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of humanitarian work.

The Turkish Ambassador reaffirmed her country's commitment to consolidating cooperation with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in the fields of humanitarian and relief work, in service of shared humanitarian goals.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Crescent, Khaled Al-Mughamis, reaffirmed the Society's keenness to strengthen international partnerships with various humanitarian bodies, in a way that contributes to addressing the increasing challenges on the international stage.
