Lebanon Receives Humanitarian Aid Aircraft Sent by Kuwait in Support of Affected Areas

A Kuwait Air Force aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid for the Lebanese people arrived at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut. The aircraft was received at the airport by Kuwait's Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad Al-Sharji, along with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Kuwaiti Embassy, Counselor Abdulaziz Al-Dalah, and the President of the Lebanese Red Cross, Dr. Antoine Al-Zoghbi.

Ambassador Al-Sharji told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that, in light of the flagrant and criminal Israeli occupation aggression that Lebanon has been subjected to — which has caused large waves of displacement from the affected areas — and drawing on Kuwait's leading humanitarian role in assisting brotherly nations, the wise leadership, represented by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, and upon the directives of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah and with close follow-up by Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber, directed the dispatch of this aid shipment.

He noted that this aid comes through the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and will be distributed in cooperation with the Lebanese Red Cross. It comprises food and relief supplies for those affected.

For his part, the Director General of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Fawwaz Al-Mazrou'i, stated that the Society responds to calls for help in difficult circumstances and emergency situations, acting on orders from the Kuwaiti government. He said that today the Society presents a gift from the Kuwaiti people to brotherly Lebanon.

Al-Mazrou'i noted that the aid weighs 40 tonnes of food and relief materials intended for the Lebanese people, which will be distributed in coordination with the Lebanese Red Cross.

In turn, the President of the Lebanese Red Cross, Dr. Antoine Al-Zoghbi, expressed his gratitude to Kuwait — its leadership and people — for answering the call and extending a helping hand to Lebanon.

Al-Zoghbi remarked that "Kuwait, through the Red Crescent, has always stood by the Lebanese people — both in the past and in the present," noting that the Lebanese Red Cross and the Kuwait Red Crescent share a longstanding partnership in humanitarian and relief work.
