The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Khaled Al-Mughamis, affirmed the importance of enhancing coordination with the Gulf Cooperation Council Emergency Management Centre, in a manner that contributes to developing crisis management systems and strengthening humanitarian response readiness in the GCC states.
Al-Mughamis made these remarks following his reception of a delegation from the Centre, headed by Brigadier General (Legal) Dr. Rashed Al-Marri. He stated that the meeting was held within the framework of both parties' keenness to broaden the horizons of cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of emergency management, humanitarian response, and relief work.
He added that the Society believes in the importance of building strategic partnerships with specialized Gulf institutions, given their impact in enhancing the efficiency of humanitarian work and developing disaster preparedness mechanisms — serving those affected and achieving Gulf integration in this field.
He noted that the Society continues to carry out its humanitarian mission in accordance with a well-established approach based on cooperation and coordination with various national, regional, and international bodies, pointing out that the exchange of expertise and experiences contributes to elevating the humanitarian work system.
For his part, the President of the GCC Emergency Management Centre, Brigadier General (Legal) Dr. Rashed Al-Marri, affirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and benefiting from its leading expertise and experiences in the fields of humanitarian work. He noted that the discussions addressed ways to broaden the horizons of cooperation between the two sides, pointing out that the Kuwait Red Crescent is a pioneer in Gulf and international humanitarian work, and that the Centre looks forward to consolidating this cooperation through the organization of specialized training programs and workshops in disaster response and rapid intervention.
He pointed out that this bilateral cooperation in the exchange of expertise would contribute to developing emergency response capacities, bringing about a qualitative leap in their humanitarian and relief work system, as well as enhancing integration among the GCC states in crisis and disaster management.
It is worth noting that the GCC Emergency Management Centre, affiliated with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, was established in 2007 with the aim of managing crises and disasters by adopting an advanced management approach for predicting all natural risks and industrial crises and addressing them effectively.
