The Secretary-General of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Dr. Latifa Al-Meer, confirmed that the Society's participation in the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD) comes within the framework of strengthening humanitarian partnerships and expanding the horizons of cooperation with the various components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and humanitarian partners.

Al-Meer told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), on the sidelines of the Society's delegation participation in the conference, that the delegation held two meetings: the first with the Secretary-General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Jagan Chapagain, and the second with the President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Dr. Mohammad Hazem Baqleh, and the accompanying delegation, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and coordinate humanitarian efforts in a manner that contributes to responding to the pressing needs witnessed by the region.

She explained that the meeting with the Secretary-General of the International Federation addressed the development of humanitarian work strategies and the strengthening of cooperation between national societies and the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, alongside developing voluntary work and building volunteer capacities in a manner that contributes to raising the efficiency of humanitarian response, exchanging expertise, and enhancing readiness to face crises and disasters.

She added that the meeting with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent delegation addressed mechanisms for developing cooperation in humanitarian and relief fields and exchanging expertise in a manner that enhances the capacity of both societies to implement humanitarian programs and projects, affirming that the Kuwait Red Crescent Society has been and continues to stand by the brothers in the Syrian Arab Republic, and will continue to provide humanitarian support in a manner that contributes to alleviating the suffering of those affected and supporting recovery efforts.

Al-Meer also affirmed that these meetings reflect the standing enjoyed by the State of Kuwait and the Kuwait Red Crescent Society on the international humanitarian scene, and embody the Society's commitment to consolidating its relations with its humanitarian partners in a manner that contributes to developing humanitarian work and enhancing response to the most vulnerable groups in need.
