Ukrainian Ambassador to Kuwait Dr Maksym Subkh praised Kuwait’s humanitarian role in supporting people affected by crises and disasters, commending the continued efforts of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) to provide relief assistance to countries around the world. Speaking to KUNA after meeting with KRCS Chairman Khaled Al-Mughamis, Subkh said Ukraine appreciates the humanitarian support provided by Kuwait during the early years of the war, describing the assistance as highly valued by the Ukrainian government and people. He said humanitarian needs in Ukraine continue to grow amid the ongoing crisis and waves of displacement. The energy sector has sustained significant damage, creating an urgent need for generators and essential equipment, in addition to pressing requirements in the health sector, he added. Subkh said the meeting reviewed priority humanitarian needs and ways to strengthen coordination in delivering relief assistance to the Ukrainian people. He expressed hope that cooperation would expand in the coming period through reciprocal visits and the implementation of projects serving shared humanitarian objectives. For his part, Al-Mughamis affirmed that Kuwait would continue its humanitarian role in supporting and protecting people affected by disasters and wars, reflecting its firm commitment to humanitarian action and its determination to alleviate the suffering of those in need worldwide. He said the meeting discussed the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two sides to support relief efforts and address priority needs amid the country’s continuing humanitarian challenges. The two sides also discussed several proposals to develop joint cooperation, which will be studied with a view to establishing appropriate mechanisms for implementation, Al-Mughamis said. He noted that the KRCS had previously provided humanitarian assistance to the Ukrainian people in the energy, health and food sectors. The meeting also reviewed major humanitarian and relief initiatives carried out by the society inside and outside Kuwait, Al-Mughamis said, emphasizing that Kuwait has established a strong model of responding to humanitarian crises and relief appeals in cooperation with international organizations and bodies.
