Yemen's Deputy Ambassador to Kuwait, Ebtisam Saeed, expressed her country's appreciation for the humanitarian role played by the State of Kuwait in supporting the Yemeni people and assisting those affected by the current humanitarian situation. She praised the relief and development efforts of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), which reflect the deep-rooted fraternal and historical ties between the two countries and their peoples.
Following her meeting with Khaled Al-Mughamis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, at the Society's headquarters, Saeed said that the visit aimed to explore ways to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and provide relief assistance to displaced people from Taiz, Aden and Marib, whose numbers are estimated at between 300,000 and 400,000. She noted that their growing humanitarian needs include essential household supplies, healthcare services, medicines and shelter materials.
She explained that the difficult humanitarian conditions facing displaced people require intensified relief efforts and an expanded response to urgent needs, helping to alleviate their suffering and improve their living conditions, particularly as affected families face significant challenges and many lack the basic necessities of life.
Saeed noted that the Kuwait Red Crescent Society has consistently taken the lead in reaching people in need and those affected across various regions of Yemen. She commended Kuwait, its leadership, people and humanitarian institutions for their continued support for the people of Yemen, highlighting how this assistance reflects the values of humanitarian solidarity and mutual support.
She renewed her thanks and appreciation to the State of Kuwait for its continued humanitarian support for Yemen, emphasizing the importance of sustained cooperation and coordination with Kuwaiti relief organizations to meet the needs of displaced people and strengthen efforts to mitigate the impact of the humanitarian crisis.
For his part, Khaled Al-Mughamis emphasized that Kuwait has always stood, and continues to stand, alongside the people of Yemen, reflecting the bonds of brotherhood and the longstanding historical ties between the two countries. He reaffirmed the Society's commitment to continuing its humanitarian assistance and implementing relief and development projects to support the most vulnerable groups.
Al-Mughamis added that the meeting addressed ways to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and reviewed Yemen's relief needs and priorities, particularly the provision of urgent assistance to displaced people and families affected by the current humanitarian situation. These efforts aim to strengthen the humanitarian response and ensure that assistance reaches those most in need.
He explained that Kuwait's humanitarian efforts in Yemen have extended beyond emergency relief over the years to include sustainable development projects in healthcare, education, water and sanitation, food, shelter and orphan care, contributing to improved living conditions for beneficiaries.
