In light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria and the extensive destruction of infrastructure, coupled with a severe shortage of basic services, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society has continued its leading humanitarian role in supporting the Syrian people and Syrian refugees in neighboring countries.
As part of its relief efforts, the Society launched a Kuwaiti humanitarian airlift from Abdullah Al-Mubarak Air Base, operating seven aircraft carrying approximately 90 tons of relief and food supplies, tents, and blankets. This initiative was implemented under the “Kuwait Stands with You” campaign to support the most affected groups in Syria and alleviate their suffering.
The Society’s efforts were not limited to emergency relief inside Syria, but extended to supporting Syrian refugees in neighboring countries. In this regard, the Society implemented a surgical operations project for Syrian refugees, with the participation of a specialized Kuwaiti medical team, in cooperation with the Jordan Red Crescent Society. The project included the performance of critical surgical procedures, in addition to a life-saving operation for a patient suffering from a brain hemorrhage.
Since the onset of the Syrian crisis, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society has maintained a consistent and uninterrupted approach to providing humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees in neighboring countries, particularly in Jordan and Lebanon. Its presence has been evident through various relief campaigns, aid convoys, winter assistance programs, and periodic humanitarian donation campaigns.
These sustained efforts reflect the Society’s firm commitment to delivering comprehensive and sustainable humanitarian support, whether through emergency airlifts and relief supplies or through medical and social programs aimed at improving the lives of those affected by the Syrian crisis wherever they may be.
